BUCKHANNON, W.Va. (WBOY) — A man has been charged after allegedly stabbing a victim at Jawbone Park in Buckhannon.

On Sept. 4, a man “with three stab wounds on his back” came into the Buckhannon Police Department, according to a criminal complaint.

The victim told officers that “he had been stabbed by a heavy-set guy at Jawbone Park,” and then was transported for treatment via Upshur County EMS, officers said.

Officers then reviewed security footage from Jawbone Park and were able to identify the victim’s attacker as Benjamin Casto, 31, of Buckhannon, who was later located at a residence on East Main Street, according to a criminal complaint.

After being read his Miranda statement, Casto told officers that the victim and a friend of Casto were “in a fight” and that Casto “attempted to break it up,” but that after Casto broke up the fight, the victim “went after his friend again, and that’s when Casto stabbed [the victim],” officers said.
