Woman sentenced for robbery in Fairmont murder case

FAIRMONT, W.Va. (WBOY) — A woman who accepted a plea deal in the case of Sean Gardiner’s death has been sentenced on robbery and conspiracy charges.

Shekea Fox, of Fairmont, was originally charged with being an accessory to murder in October 2022 but was later indicted on first-degree murder charges alongside Naquan Warren in February 2023.

Fox took a plea deal and testified during Warren’s trial last month . Warren was found guilty of all charges : First-degree murder, first-degree robbery, burglary, assault during the commission of a felony, and conspiracy.

Fox, on Thursday, was sentenced to 70 years for first degree robbery, 2-10 years for attempt to commit a felony, and 1-5 years for conspiracy to commit a felony. The first two sentences will run at the same time, while Fox will serve the third after the first two. Fox will be eligible for parole after serving a quarter of her sentence.

Fox and Warren conspired to rob Gardiner, who was known to have a large amount of cash in his possession at a home in Fairmont. Fox testified that she set up the robbery under pressure from Warren and then could hear Warren hitting the victim with a bat and saw him standing standing over the body.

Warren will not receive mercy during his sentencing, the jury determined during his trial.
