PHILIPPI, W.Va. (WBOY) — The third annual Cupcake Jubilee was held in downtown Philippi Saturday offering fun and entertainment for community members.

One of the highlights of the jubilee is the cupcake contest in which tickets are sold and cupcakes are sampled by attendees, after which they can vote for their favorite. Eight bakers entered the contest with their eyes on the top prize and the people’s choice award.

The jubilee also saw craft vendors and live music which organizers say welcomed in the fall-like weather.

Co-Owner of Twisted Bee Studio and organizer of the Cupcake Jubilee Kelly McDaniel discussed the importance events like the jubilee hold in a small community.

“We just want more things to happen to drawl like the locals in and outsiders into our little town to see what all we have to offer,” McDaniel said. “So we’re trying to do different events at different months just to bring more people in.”
