MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) — The coaches of Morgantown High School and Clay-Battelle High School’s football teams have confirmed that the games scheduled for Friday night have been postponed.

Morgantown High was scheduled to play South Charleston, and Clay-Battelle was scheduled to play Valley (Wetzel). Both Mon County teams were supposed to travel for away games in South Charleston and Pine Grove.

Although neither coach confirmed that the game cancelations were related to school threats, multiple schools across the state and region , including South Charleston High School, did receive reports of possible threats, and WBOY’s sister station in Charleston, WOWK 13News , did report that authorities were investigating “active shooter threats” at South Charleston High.

Preston High School will have increased security at Friday home football game after threats Thursday

Clay-Battelle Athletics announced that the Clay-Battelle and Valley game would be rescheduled for 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 16. The Morgantown and South Charleston game is rescheduled for noon on Saturday, Sept. 14.

Preston High School, which dismissed early for a threat on Thursday and had a remote learning day on Friday , announced that since the juvenile believed to be related to the threat was put in custody, it would still have its home game against Fairmont Senior High School .
