FAIRMONT, W.Va. (WBOY) — Looking for some fun fall activities? Stop by Poplar Island Pumpkins, which had its opening day on Saturday!

The location can be found just outside of Fairmont and offers hay rides, a corn maze, a rotating roster of vendors and a pumpkin patch, as well as its new Cryptid Haunted Trail.

Maddy Thompson, the niece of the owner Leslie Delapas, explained that her aunt painted the artwork of the Cryptids along the trail. Thompson remembers when she first saw the trail. “I was just like, ‘This is going to be awesome once it’s all done.’ And it is, it looks really good.”

Frankie Delapas, who helps run Poplar Island with his mother Leslie, explained that the farm has been in the family for generations. “We always saw an opportunity to give back to the community, and we just want to offer pumpkins.”

This is Poplar Island’s third season and it will be open every Friday and Saturday until the end of October until 10 p.m. If you stop by and happen to have extra cleaning or pet supplies, be sure to bring them as the location will be collecting donations for Pet Helpers and the Marion County Humane Society all season.

Kids 10 and under can enjoy the activities for $10, while those over 10 can participate for $12. More information on Poplar Island Pumpkins can be found on its Facebook .
