SUTTON, W.Va. (WBOY) — A student has been pulled from school while the West Virginia State Police investigates a threat against Braxton County Middle School made on social media.

According to a Facebook post from Braxton County Schools, the school district became aware of a threat circulating on social media Sunday evening. The post said that the student who is believed to have made the threat has been identified and will “NOT be in school until the investigation is completed.”

The post said that the threat is “not associated with the threats that were circulating state wide last week ” and was “not directed to the entire student body.”

There is added armed security at Braxton County Middle School on Monday as there was at many schools across West Virginia and the region last week after multiple schools investigated social media threats .

The post said that the threat is being investigated by the West Virginia State Police.

The school district also reminded students that making threats against a school, false or not, can results in a year-long expulsion and criminal charges.

Last week, at least six West Virginia students were put into custody for allegedly making threats.
