3 men charged after deputies find meth and fentanyl during traffic stop in Upshur County

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. (WBOY) — Three men have been charged after deputies found several containers with drugs in them inside a vehicle during a traffic stop in Upshur County.

On Sept. 17, deputies with the Upshur County Sheriff’s Department performed a traffic stop for a vehicle failing to stop at a stop sign on WBUC Road, according to a criminal complaint.

When the stop was performed on Brushy Fork, deputies were able to make contact with the vehicle’s occupants, identified as Marcus Harrison, 29, who gave deputies consent to search the vehicle, as well as Robert Linger, 32, and Lucas Jenkins, 36, deputies said.

During that search, deputies located “a black Backwoods Simpsons cartoon bag” containing controlled substances, but all three occupants “denied ownership,” according to the complaint.

Deputies said that the following items were inside the bag:

• A plastic bag containing four red capsules with presumed meth
• Five capsules containing presumed fentanyl
• Four bags containing a brown powder presumed to be fentanyl
• Two bags of presumed meth
• Two “bundles of wax paper folds commonly used to package and distribute fentanyl”
• “Numerous” bags commonly used to package and distribute meth
• A set of digital scales
• Multiple bags containing presumed marijuana “packaged for distribution.”

Harrison, Linger and Jenkins have been charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and are all being held in Tygart Valley Regional Jail.
