WV Batman pays a visit to Doddridge County schools

WEST UNION, W.Va. (WBOY) — WV Batman with Heroes4Higher , aka John Buckland, visited Doddridge High, Middle and Elementary schools, as well as the Early Learning Academy on Wednesday to spread messages of positivity and inspiration to students.

Though this isn’t Batman’s first time visiting the school district, his message differed, focusing this time on the recent spike in school threats across the region.

For each age group, Batman shared a different message, and for high and middle schoolers, he shared his traumas and hardships; he even took off his mask. Though at every place he visits, Batman sticks to teaching four messages: “Never give up, always do the right thing, help other people and never be a bully.”

In his speech, Batman spoke on how the youth mental health crisis is often ignored and overlooked, though it is one of the biggest issues faced in society today.

“If we go through stuff, then the whole goal is to use that stuff to help other people going through stuff. This is my mission; it’s been 12 years this month. I take it very seriously, it’s been to Poland, it’s been to Ukraine, it’s been all over this country and I hope it just continues to grow because something has to change with this generation of kids. If it doesn’t change with this generation, it’s going to be rough in 20 years,” said Buckland.
