West Virginia Public Health Association Celebrates 100 years during annual conference

DAVIS, W.Va. (WBOY) — More than 200 medical professionals from throughout the state of West Virginia gathered at Canaan Valley Resort on Wednesday for the West Virginia Public Health Association’s annual conference.

This year, the organization is celebrating 100 years of serving the Mountain State. The conference gives multiple training and networking opportunities to those who attend as well as speeches from multiple guest speakers.

Members of the association include registered sanitarians, public health nurses, home health nurses, health officers, administrators, nutritionists, dental professionals, student affiliates, office assistants and representatives from each of the 11 sections of the West Virginia Bureau for Public Health.

“We’re going to look at what we’ve done in the past. You know we have a proud history here of 100 years of public health in West Virginia, but we’re going to get back to work and we’re going to continue to make sure that public health in West Virginia is you know up to par and safe for everyone,” West Virginia Public Health Association President James Casdorph said

Conference attendees also have the opportunity to attend exhibits and ask questions of the representatives. The conference will take place until Friday, Sept. 20.
