MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) — A Morgantown woman and a man from out of state were charged after deputies found drugs in a vehicle during a traffic stop in Monongalia County.

On Sept. 18, deputies with the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department were on Grafton Road when they observed a vehicle “passing cars at a high rate of speed,” according to a criminal complaint.

Deputies then observed the vehicle merge onto Smithtown Road and “suddenly jerked back onto Grafton Road, crossing over multiple painted solid lines on the roadway disregarding the traffic control device,” deputies said.

At that point, deputies pulled the vehicle over, identified two of the occupants as Dwight Hurd, 30, of Petersburg, New York, and Amber Borror, 24, of Morgantown, and located “in plain view a large wad of cash protruding from [Hurd’s] pocket,” according to the complaint.

A K-9 unit was then requested and gave a positive indication for the presence of narcotics; a search of the vehicle was then conducted, deputies said.

In the search, deputies located “multiple folded pieces of foil with burnt drug residue,” a “small amount” of heroin, a “large rock of white powder,” “multiple” individually wrapped bags of “white powders, rocks and pills,” as well as $1,517 in cash, according to the complaint.

Hurd and Borror have been charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. They are both being held in North Central Regional Jail.

Images of Hurd and Borror were not available at the time of posting this story.
