CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — West Virginia is already seeing the effects of Tropical Storm Helene in the form of rain and unseasonably warm temperatures.

Multiple West Virginia cities set records for the highest low temperature ever recorded on Sept. 27. Although low temperatures this time of year are normally in the low 50s, Clarksburg didn’t even get below 70 degrees Fahrenheit Friday morning, breaking the previous daily low-temperature record from 1986.

In fact, the whole north central West Virginia region saw abnormally warm overnight temperatures, with Elkins, Buckhannon, Philippi, Webster Springs, and Weston all setting the new record highs for the daily low temperatures.

‘Scary looking cloud’ seen over Cheat Lake was not severe weather

The warm temperatures are from hurricane-turned Tropical Storm Helene, which is expected to bring more rain as well as high winds to West Virginia throughout the day on Friday .
