    Pennsylvania woman convicted after drugs found in vehicle in Clarksburg

    CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — A Pennsylvania woman has been convicted of possession with intent to distribute heroin and fentanyl following surveillance by investigators.

    A press release from the Department of Justice said that investigators began surveillance on a Clarksburg residence after receiving complaints of “drug activity.” During this time, officers saw Jalisa Lashae Hawkins, 35, of Duquesne, Pennsylvania “drive to the residence, interact with someone, and leave” the release said.

    Officers followed and pulled Hawkins’ vehicle over following several traffic violations, where they “seized fentanyl stamps and heroin.”

    Hawkins could face up to 20 years in federal prison, which a federal district court judge will determine. She was previously arrested twice in 2016 on drug charges and was sentenced to 77 months in federal prison in 2019 .

    The Greater Harrison Drug Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative and the Mountaineer Highway Interdiction Team South investigated.
