BEVERLY, W.Va. (WBOY) — A vehicle went off the road and crashed into a storage building and trailer in Beverly on Thursday, causing thousands of dollars in damages.

The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office said in a release that a vehicle accident at the Burgess Mobile Home Park in Beverly caused damage to “several pieces of property” along U.S. 250. The driver had allegedly first hit a telephone pole and a sign while going 40 miles per hour and then continued driving. He then went over an embankment, went through a storage building and into the porch of a single-wide trailer.

Law enforcement said that the storage building was destroyed and that damage on the trailer was visible from outside and inside the home, which was unoccupied at the time of the accident. Deputies estimated that the cost of the damage was “in the thousands.”

According to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, the driver was on a “tablet device” while driving and admitted that he was distracted. He was arrested and charged with reckless driving, according to the release.
