CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — With Flu Season quickly approaching, it is important that people remember to get their flu vaccine, and the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center made it easy for local veterans.

On Saturday the center held a drive-thru flu vaccine clinic. Flu shots were available to all veterans enrolled in VA healthcare from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

April Romano, Nurse Manager for the Community Living Center and Rehab expressed just how important the vaccine is for everyone, regardless of their age.

“We’d like to encourage the younger population of veterans to get vaccinated,” Romano said. “I know sometimes they don’t think about it, but it’s just as important to protect the elderly people around them. So, we want to encourage that also and make it convenient for them to just drive through.”

If you missed Saturday’s drive-thru clinic, no need to worry. Monday, Sept. 30 will be the first day the flu vaccination is offered in the medical center for the 2024-2025 flu season.
