    North central West Virginia groups collecting donations for Helene victims

    CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — A number of businesses and organizations in north central West Virginia are collecting items to send to those affected by flooding from Hurricane Helene .

    The Bridgeport Office of Emergency Management announced multiple locations where people can drop off items for those affected by flooding and storm damage.

    Drop-off Locations :

    • The Bridge Sports Complex 400 Forrester Blvd. Bridgeport, WV 26330
    • Shinnston Fire Department 37 Bridge St. Shinnston, WV 26431
    • Marion County Rescue Squad 400 Virginia Ave. Fairmont, WV 26554

    Drop-off Times:

    • Monday, Sept 30 from noon-4 p.m.
    • Tuesday, Oct. 1 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

    Urgently Needed Items :

    • Bottled Water
    • Cleaning Supplies
    • Coolers
    • Bleach
    • Hand Sanitizer
    • Toilet Paper
    • Diapers
    • Paper Towers
    • Shovels
    • Brooms
    • Gloves

    Donations at these locations will be driven to Ashville, North Carolina on Wednesday.

    The City of Weston is accepting donations of hygiene and cleaning products on Monday, Sept. from 7 a.m.-4 p.m. and from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. at the Family Resource Network at 240 Court Avenue in Weston. The supplies will be transported to Ashville on Tuesday.

    Supplies rushed to Helene-hit areas as death toll passes 100

    The Cartoon Headquarters Inflatable Fun Zone Center in Nutter Fort, Harrison County is collecting the items listed on the right on Tuesday, Oct. 1 from 5-8 p.m.

    “As a small thank you for helping out peeople in need,” anyone who brings donations will receive a free pass for their child to play in the Fun Zone on a day of their choice.

    Several people will be transporting the items donated to the Fun Zone to Ashville at the end of the week.

    The McClellan Volunteer Fire Department in Center Point, Doddridge County is also making a trip down to Ashville within the next few weeks. It asks for items specially listed in its Facebook post be dropped off at the Center Point Library as soon as possible.

    • Storage totes
    • Canned and non-parishable food items
    • New or gently used clean clothing
    • Hygiene products
    • Baby supplies, wipes, and diapers
    • First aid kits/sanitizer
    • Cleaning wipes/supplies
    • Canned chainsaw gas/oil
    • Pet food
    • Feminine products
    • Trash bags
    • Flashlight/lanterns and batteries
    • Blankets
    • Laundry detergent
    • Peperoni Rolls (bagged individually if homemade)
    • Kids activities (books, coloring, games)
    • Sleeping bags
    • Paper products for eating
    • Bottled water

    WBOY’s parent company Nexstar has also set up a donation fund through the American Red Cross to help raise money for those affected by natural disasters. Donations made now will be given to those who need immediate help and shelter because of the loss from Helene.
