Win prizes for visiting West Virginia’s paranormal landmarks

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — The West Virginia Department of Tourism is incentivizing paranormal fans to visit the state’s spookiest spots.

Much like the West Virginia Waterfall Trail and West Virginia Culinary Trail , the West Virginia Paranormal Trail offers prizes for checking in at haunted locations across the state. West Virginia residents or tourists can sign up for free and add the experience to their smartphone. From there, all participants have to do is go to one of the 14 spooky locations included and “check in.”

Check in at three locations and get a Paranormal Trail sticker; check in at 10 locations and get a Paranormal Trail beanie; and check in at all the spooky locations and receive a limited edition Paranormal Trail print.

• Mothman Museum in Point Pleasant
• Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in Weston
• Lake Shawnee Amusement Park in Rock
• West Virginia Penitentiary in Moundsville
• Blennerhassett Hotel and Spa in Parkersburg
• Ghost Tour of Harpers Ferry
• Hotel Morgan in Morgantown
• Flatwoods Monster Museum in Sutton
• The Old Hospital on College Hill in Williamson
• Shepherdstown Mystery Walks
• The Historic Glen Ferris Inn in Glen Ferris
• The Haunted Haymond in Sutton
• Flinderation Tunnel in Harrison County
• Bigfoot Statue at the Elk River Trail in Clay County
