Fairmont State Masquers host Spooky Spirit Run and Walk 5K

FAIRMONT, W.Va. (WBOY) — The Fairmont State University Masquers hosted its Spooky Spirit Run and Walk 5K through the campus on Saturday, providing an opportunity to get outside and support the local theater.

For $20 you could participate in the race and help support the Fairmont State theater and the art that it provides.

There was more to this fun event than speed, however, including a celebration of community, theater, and the joy of running. The event includes a 5k run around the campus for runners and a mile-and-a-half walk for walkers, allowing everyone to stretch their legs and get some exercise.

Treasurer for the Masquers and organizer of the event, Katie Scherzinger, was grateful to see the community turn out.

“I encouraged people to dress up as a fun Halloween activity and they’re scary costumes but a lot of people did surprisingly, and we have metals as a spooky sprint on them, and it’s just a great way to get the community out together.”
