    Lincoln Middle and High schools closing Tuesday after death of student

    SHINNSTON, W.Va. (WBOY) — Lincoln Middle School and Lincoln High School in Harrison County will be closed on Tuesday so that staff and students can attend the memorial service for a student who passed away last week.

    Lincoln senior Samuel Flint died unexpectedly on Friday, Oct. 11, according to his obituary . He was 17 years old.

    The school announced on social media that it will be closed on Tuesday, Oct. 15 for Flint’s funeral service, and counselors and support staff will be available at Lincoln High School during the rest of the week. Harrison County students were already scheduled to be off on Monday, Oct. 14.

    “Although we are heartbroken and hurting, we will lean on each other and we will get each other through this. Take care of yourselves, and take care of each other,” the school said on Facebook Friday.

    Visitation will be on Oct. 14 from 2-8 p.m., and the funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Oct. 15, both at Perine Funeral Home in Shinnston.

    According to his obituary, Samuel Flint was an active member of the Lincoln High School senior class and multiple school sports teams, including wrestling, football, track, cross country and basketball.

    “He will be remembered for his quick-witted humor and being a good friend to many,” his obituary says.

    Prayers for the Family. The loss of a child is so hard. My granddaughter said he was so active in School and she was so shocked by the news. May he Rip and now finds comfort in Heaven with the Angels . 🙏🙏🙏🙏

    This is so ad to lose a young man to suicide. However, let’s watch our kiddos for signs of bullying etc. This child was CLEARLY not as happy as his obituary continuously mentions. This is where he needs assistance and help. There was something more beneath the surface and the world lost one more young man. A very sad situation 😔
