    US Marshals searching for USP Hazelton escapee

    BRUCETON MILLS, W.Va. (WBOY) — U.S. Marshals are searching for a man missing from a satellite camp adjacent to United States Penitentiary (USP) Hazelton in Bruceton Mills.

    According to a release from the U.S. Department of Justice, Roger Austin, 53, was discovered missing on Monday, Oct. 14 at about 4:15 p.m. Austin stands 5’11” tall, weighs roughly 218 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes.

    Austin was sentenced in 2018 in Michigan to 255 months (21.25 years) in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm, using and carrying a firearm during a drug trafficking crime and conspiracy to manufacture, distribute and possess with intent to distribute controlled substances.

    The release said the FBI and other law enforcement agencies were immediately notified, and that an internal investigation was initiated. The release specified that USP Hazelton’s satellite camp is a minimum security facility.
