    Man charged after allegedly firing 9mm in North View

    CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — One of the people placed into custody after an incident in the North View neighborhood of Clarksburg on Friday was charged with felony wanton endangerment.

    On Oct. 11, officers with the Clarksburg Police Department were informed of shots being fired in the area of the intersection of Hamill Avenue and North 14th Street, according to a criminal complaint. A 12 News reported captured the following images of the response.

    Officers were able to obtain witness statements and surveillance footage showing that Gage Claypool, 21, “negligently discharged a 9mm handgun two times near several residences and bystanders in the North View residential area,” officers said.

    The video shows Claypool “screaming and cursing while swinging the 9mm firearm around in the air and toward homes while discharging,” according to the complaint.

    Claypool has been charged with wanton endangerment. He is being held in North Central Regional Jail on $50,000 bond.
