    Rangers searching for missing driver after vehicle crash near Snowshoe

    SNOWSHOE, W.Va. (WBOY) — Emergency officials are looking for a man who has been missing since a vehicle crash near Snowshoe on Tuesday.

    Members of the Snowshoe Resort Community District (SRCD) Ranger Department responded to a vehicle crash on Snowshoe Road on Oct. 15, according to a post by the Pocahontas County Homeland Security & Emergency Management . The vehicle was found in the woods on its top and “appeared to have been there for several hours,” but no one was found at or near the scene.

    The driver is believed to have been 62-year-old Jonathan Anthony Royal. Rangers searched the area near the scene but found no one, and friends of Royal have not seen him since the crash.

    Anyone with information about Royal’s whereabout should call the Pocahontas County 911 admin line at 304-799-4567. Royal is described as 5’5″ tall and 185 pounds.

    The SRCD Ranger Department is leading the investigation.

    Snowshoe got its first taste of winter weather this week, seeing snow multiple days after the first snow of the season fell overnight Monday into Tuesday .
