    1 hospitalized after multi-vehicle accident on I-79 in Bridgeport

    BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. (WBOY) — One person was taken to the hospital Friday afternoon after multiple vehicles collided on Interstate 79 in Harrison County near the Meadowbrook exit.

    According to officials with the Harrison County 911 Center, at around 2:50 p.m., crews were alerted to a three-vehicle accident with injuries just south of the Meadowbrook exit on I-79 southbound. Crews on the scene found that one person had sustained injuries that required them to be taken to “a local hospital.”

    911 officials confirmed to 12 News that the accident involved a passenger car, a tractor-trailer and a third unknown-type vehicle. Officials were also unable to confirm if any lanes were closed in the area, but West Virginia 511 data shows heavy traffic in the area as of 3:27 p.m.

    Crews with the Bridgeport Fire Department, Clarksburg Fire Department, Bridgeport EMS, Harrison County EMS and the Bridgeport Police Department responded to this call.
