    Fire departments respond to Shinnston house explosion

    SHINNSTON, W.Va. (WBOY) — Several fire departments are currently on the scene of a fire that began following an explosion.

    According to the Harrison County 911 log , reports from neighbors began to come in about the incident on Lucas Road in Shinnston at about 1:10 p.m. on Saturday. The Shinnston Fire Department arrived on the scene to find a house on fire.

    A 12 News reporter at the scene learned from officials that no one was injured in the explosion. The owner of the house confirmed that no one was inside when the incident occurred.

    The owner of the home was also on the scene and said her family members who are getting ready to start a family themselves were supposed to move into the home today.

    There is no information at this time on what caused the explosion. The fire marshal will be called in to investigate.

    Lucas Road is currently closed.

    Fire departments from Bridgeport, Lumberport, Mannington, Monongah, Nutter Fort, Shinnston, Spelter and Worthington, along with the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office, EMS and the Office of Emergency Management responded to this incident.
