DICKSON CITY, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Chili’s is making its return to Northeastern Pennsylvania with a location building over the former Uno site in Dickson City.

Chili’s Grill & Bar intends to tear down the former Uno Pizzeria & Grill at 3905 Commerce Boulevard to build its restaurant, according to borough Manager Cesare Forconi.

The Dickson City Planning Commission gave tentative approval to bring Chili’s to Commerce Boulevard. Forconi tells 28/22 News the plan is to demolish the current structure and construct a new building on the front section of the property.

The new restaurant will mark the chain’s return to NEPA. Chili’s previously had a location outside the Wyoming Valley Mall in Wilkes-Barre Township before closing in January 2020.

Work is set to begin this spring on the Dickson City location. As to when the construction will be completed Forconi says once all approvals are in place these projects tend to move quickly.

The Borough Council is expected to grant land development approval at a meeting being held on April 9.
