SOUTH ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Griffin Pond Animal Shelter is calling for help, they need adoptions.

Griffin Pond Animal Shelter said they have been receiving numerous amounts of calls from people who want to surrender their pets.

The shelter states just last week they have had dogs from hotel rooms, incarcerations, moving, deceased former adopters, and puppies left behind in other counties.

Griffin Pond Animal Shelter says they are completely out of space and have experienced angry people arguing with staff in the lobby regarding a situation out of their control.

“We need adoptions, we need time, we need people to make decisions to care for their pets in the event they can’t,” expressed shelter officials.

The shelter noted in their Facebook post they call for grace, time to recover, and help. If you are interested in adopting a pet, email Griffion Pond Shelter at Adoptions@griffinpondanimalshelter.com
