    Two teens rescued from Lackawanna River

    PECKVILLE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — First responders acted swiftly rescuing two teens from dangerous waters Tuesday afternoon in Lackawanna County.

    Just after 2:00 p.m., crews were called to Bridge Street in Peckville for a report of two people stranded in the Lackawanna River.

    Officials say the teens were attempting to raft in the deep fast-moving water when they got stuck.

    “Got here we found two people hanging onto a tree limb that was in the river someone trapped underneath the tree they couldn’t get themselves out so we set up a police system lower to rescue down to them and then pull them out,” explained Jason leri, fire chief of Wilson Fire Company Peckville.

    Both teens were evaluated by EMS.
