Crash on I-80 kills driver, sends passenger to hospital

KIDDER TWP., CARBON COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — State police report a tractor-trailer crash on Interstate 80 killed a driver and sent a passenger to the hospital Wednesday morning.

According to PSP, around 3:40 a.m. a tractor-trailer was traveling on I-80 in Kidder Township when the driver abruptly veered left off the roadway and hit a tree.

After hitting the tree the vehicle became engulfed in flames.

Troopers said the driver was found dead in the driver’s seat while the passenger was found outside of the vehicle and later taken to Geisinger Wyoming Valley.

The Carbon County coroner stated the identification of the victim has not been determined.
