    Tractor-trailer meat spill closes section of Route 61

    COAL TWP., NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Officials report a tractor-trailer spilling meat closed off a section of Route 61 Thursday afternoon.

    According to PennDOT, a section of Route 61 was closed between Mt. Carmel Street and Sixth Street in Shamokin, Coal Township due to a load spill from a tractor-trailer.

    Northumberland County 911 Center tells 28/22 News that the tractor-trailer was leaking a sort of meat all over the roadway.

    PennDOT states drivers were detoured using East Independence Street in Shamokin.
