WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The race for the White House will once again come to northeastern Pennsylvania. Former President Trump will hold a campaign rally in Luzerne County in the coming weekend.

He and Democratic Candidate Vice President Kamala Harris are campaigning in battleground states.

Most political analysts say whoever wins Pennsylvania will likely be the next president of the United States.

Former President Trump will hold a rally at Mohegan Arena on Saturday afternoon.

Recent polling shows that he and Vice-President Kamala Harris are in a virtual dead heat nationwide and here in Pennsylvania.

The Mohegan Arena near Wilkes-Barre is very familiar to former President Trump.

He’s been here five times since he was first elected in 2016.

This appearance comes as he and Vice-President Harris are in a knockdown, drag-it-out, campaign fight.

Congressman Dan Meuser will be with the former president.

“So President Trump is coming in to talk about his record and compare his record to that of Kamala Harris. Trump’s record is one of strength,” Meuser said.

Attorney Todd Eagen from Scranton is a member of the Democratic National Committee.

“I think Trump’s visit to Wilkes-Barre is indicative of he knows, that he knows he’s fully behind in Pennsylvania and he’s starting to make more stops here. I really think that Pennsylvania is going to be in the democrat side come November,” Eagen stated.

Gene Ziemba is chairman of the GOP in Luzerne County. He says Trump’s message this weekend should include the following.

“First of all jobs jobs jobs well-paying jobs. I think that our area is primed is taking off because of our geographics and because of our transportation,” Ziemba explained.

Tom Shubilla is chairman of the Luzerne County Democrat Party. He says the Harris candidacy is motivating people to get involved.

“At our democrat office, there’s an up swell of enthusiasm of people who I have never seen before. People who are not necessarily political people asking for signs and asking how they could volunteer,” Shubilla stated.

The Trump Rally starts at 4:00 p.m. Saturday and 28/22 News will be there with full coverage on Saturday.
