TROUT RUN, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — It’s been nearly two weeks since remnants of Debby made its way across our region. Causing severe flood damage in many communities.

It’s been 12 days since remnants of Debby pounded the village of Trout Run with nearly 10 inches of rain.

Where a bridge once stood as part of Route 14. Now an excavator digging up what’s left and right behind it the damaged firehouse.

“No firehouse, no public buildings, residents completely displaced, it’s traumatic for a lot of people. You know, just as simple as getting around your town is more difficult now than it ever has been so it’s tough, it’s tough to cope with,” says Dan Hollingsworth.

Second victim dies after house explosion in Jefferson Twp.

The flood damage was extensive, spanning to more than 11.8 million dollars but fortunately only four property losses.

In front of what’s left of the firehouse, volunteers continue to serve hot meals to those in need and workers rebuilding.

“The amount of resources that came in to help clean up, the townspeople that’s come to help clean up has been wonderful, so the product of what we have now after 12 days I think is spot on.”

Chief Nick Smith says due to the extent of the damage, the company will need to relocate.

“We obviously don’t want to be in this situation again, so we have two more places right now we’re currently looking at moving the building, once everything’s settled here.”

With not just the help of volunteers but other agencies, Lewis Township official Chuck O’Brien says the support has been unbelievable.

“The local Penndot crew from Trout Run helped a lot on Friday. Sorry I get emotional, it’s just so overwhelming. We are trout run strong. Without a doubt.”

As clean-up continues on the bridge, a temporary road to connect Lycoming Creek to Route 14 is under design and will be constructed in the coming weeks.
