SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — NEPA’s premier celebration of Italian heritage begins this coming Friday in Lackawanna County.

On Monday, organizers raised the Italian flag at Courthouse Square in Downtown Scranton.

The festival will be held on the square over Labor Day weekend from August 30 to September 2.

La Festa welcomes thousands to the Electric City and offers a wide variety of local vendors, live entertainment, and plenty of delicious food.

“Really excited so many people are coming from so many different areas in the region and outside of Pennsylvania, people look forward to this its the end of the summer tradition, it’s our 48th year, lots of vendors lots of new events, activities, displays, a lot more entertainment, it’s going to be terrific,” said La Festa Committee President Christopher Dimattio.
