MESHOPPEN TOWNSHIP, WYOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Annual Wyoming County Fair kicked off Wednesday in Meshoppen Township, bringing a week full of excitement and activities for the whole family.

The fair offers a wide range of events, including a concert on Saturday night featuring country artist Ian Munsick.

“It is great to watch this go from just a patch of growing grass to all these vendors with tents and rides. It’s wonderful,” said Wyoming County Fair Board of Directors Ashley Burke.

“Kind of like a community to it. I’ve had a lot of good conversations with a lot of people. I’ve seen a lot of local talent and townspeople. A lot of those bigger fairs there isn’t like a big community element to it so I think something like this is very community-based,” said Collin Saam from Clifford, Pennsylvania.

Fans of motorsports will enjoy the tractor pull, while horse and animal enthusiasts can check out the horse and livestock shows and barrel racing events.

“You can see sheep, you can see cows, you can see horses, you can see pigs, you can see all sorts of animals and the children love it. They like that a lot. And I’ve seen a camel in the past and there’s probably a camel here this year,” Hoyt Keiser with Gem 99 and 100 said.

“Well, we like to see the produce, my grandson and granddaughter participate with the agricultural stuff, and then to see all of the different elements and new things that are available and of course, the community of the fair it’s something that we into,” said Wyoming County resident Ted Blakeslee.

There’s also a demolition derby sure to thrill the crowds, along with a high school rodeo showcasing young talent. A cornhole tournament will happen at various points throughout the week.

“My friend’s grandma brought me here and we came to have some fun and get out of the house. Go on a lot of rides, eat, and do a lot of stuff we came here to enjoy ourselves,” Asiahs Cuebas from Wyoming County said.

“It’s a wonderful activity that’s been going on in the county for a long time and it’s something that I hope they can preserve for years to come,” Blakeslee added.

With livestock on display and an array of delicious food options, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. It’s fun for all ages at the Wyoming County Fair.
