SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police say they arrested a man after he was found in a stolen car, made shooting threats, and hid in a brush to avoid arrest.

According to the Scranton Police Department, on Wednesday officers were called about a man driving near a house on Myrtle Street and claimed he intended to “shoot up the residence.”

Through further investigation, officers said they identified the man as Steven Brannigan, 33, and he was driving a stolen car out of Wilkes-Barre.

Police say they found the car and tried to pull over Brannigan but a chase began until he stopped the vehicle on Mulberry Street and fled on foot.

Multiple Scranton police units searched the area and eventually found Brannigan at a house on Schultz Court, hiding in heavy brush outside.

Brannigan was charged with fleeing police, terrorist threats, harassment, and receiving stolen property.
