    Scranton solidifying 2025 Capital Budget as Lackawanna County struggles with finances

    SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — As Lackawanna County struggles to get its finances in order, the city of Scranton took a major step Tuesday into solidifying its 2025 Capital Budget.

    On Tuesday night, council members approved the introduction of the city’s budget .

    Council members say it’s the best budget the city has seen in years with a clear and transparent layout that shows exactly where money is going, why, and for how long.

    New resource aims to help student attendance, involvement

    The set-up of the budget includes a boost in the city’s credit ratings and over $600,000 earned in interest from taxpayer dollars.

    Residents will get a chance to sound off on the budget at a public hearing on September 24.

    There was no mention of if taxes will be raised for Scranton residents.
