FREELAND, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Authorities warn residents to boil their water after a water main break on Wednesday.

The Freeland Municipal Authority alerted residents of a water main break at the intersection of Walnut and Centre Street.

While the water main break has already been repaired, officials say a water boil advisory is in place for the next few days.

Residents are advised by the Freeland Municipal Authority to not drink the water without boiling it for one minute or to use bottled water.

Authorities say bottled or boiled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, food preparation, and washing dishes until the advisory has been lifted.

Residents can do laundry and shower without boiling the water first, according to the Freeland Municipal Authority.

Officials say they will inform residents when the water boil advisory is lifted.
