OLYPHANT, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Over 100 cats have been removed from an Olyphant home described as a “self-animal rescue organization.”

According to ASPCA, crews were called to a home on Gravity Avenue in Olyphant around 9:45 a.m. by the Lackawanna County Humane Society to remove animals from inside the house.

The house was reported to be a “self-described animal rescue organization.” Officials said over 100 cats were removed as of Thursday afternoon, but the rescue of additional animals continues.

ASPCA will take the animals to the cruelty recovery center and will be part of the ongoing care of the cats.

“He’s been very kind to the animals he’s taken in and a good neighbor to us. We’re sorry to see it, but if it’s gotten out of hand perhaps it’s the best thing that could have happened to him. Because he is overburdened with them, it’s because of his kind heart and his willingness to take in animals that no one else would want that he’s gotten himself into a situation that maybe is a little bit more than he could handle,” explained a neighbor, regarding the incident.

not a bit surprised at this report a year or two will go by and the same BS will resurface except for the person behind the outbreak and another new location I will blame the ASPCA because they don't do a background check on animal cruelty or neglecte it would be like adoption to a family who doesn't care for the boy or girl and you catch a hundred of children roaming around so if you want to make a change start with the ASPCA
