NANTICOKE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — We are learning more about concerns in a Luzerne County neighborhood about reports of shots fired.

The same neighborhood where a teen was shot and later died over the weekend.

Nanticoke police converge on the Minden Court neighborhood in the honey pot section of the city at around 8 Thursday night. This was after neighbors reported hearing what sounded like gunshots.

This is the same neighborhood where 17-year-old Hunter Sipple was shot last Sunday. 18-year-old Michael Crawn Junior says he was fooling around with a handgun and it discharged.

Sipple was struck in the chest. He later died at the hospital. There were concerns that the reported shots heard by neighbors were in some way connected to the deadly shooting.

    Nanticoke deadly shooting investigation continues

Nanticoke police chief Mike Roke tells the I-team:

We canvassed the neighborhood and interviewed residents who reported hearing a loud popping sound and witnessed a possible suspect vehicle. We checked every security camera on homes in that area and did not see the supposed suspect vehicle. We also brought in a k-9 to search for shell casings. Nothing was found.

Anyone who may have information is urged to call the Nanticoke Police Department (NPD).

Meanwhile the investigation into the fatal shooting is ongoing. We caught up with Michael Crawn Thursday as he waited outside the Nanticoke Police Station. We are told he is cooperating with detectives.

My name is Andy Mehalshick “Anything to say about what happened in the house,” said Andy Mehalshick.

    “No comment. Sorry,” answered Crawn.

Charges have not been filed in connection with the fatal shooting police say the investigation is ongoing and moving forward.
