MOUNT POCONO, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Two Monroe County men have been arrested after allegedly stealing from Weis Markets and then fighting a police officer.

On September 12 Gabriel Valle, 19, and Xaziver Valle were both charged with aggravated assault after an incident with a police officer dealing with a theft call from Weis Markets.

Police were called after the two men allegedly stole just over $90 of wine from Weis Markets. When an officer confronted the two in a Taco Bell parking lot, they were both uncooperative.

According to the release, when the officer went to detain one of the males, both men began fighting him. The officer took Xaziver to the ground but he refused to stay down, and at the same time, Gabriel was attempting to fight the officer, at which point a stun gun was deployed on Gabriel.

The affidavit states the officer was able to handcuff Xaziver as another officer arrived on the scene and handcuffed Gabriel.

Police say Xaziver, while handcuffed, attempted to flee on foot, where he then tripped on a curb and fell and was put into custody.

Both men have been charged with aggravated assault and other related charges.
