FORTY-FORT, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The weather could not be better for runners to take part in a first-of-its-kind run.

The Forty Fort Cemetery Association hosted its inaugural Run/Walk Through History. 370 runners had the option of doing a 5k or a 10k.

The course started at the historic Forty Fort Cemetery and took participants down River Street onto the Levee and back to the cemetery.

Semi-Annual Weatherly Hill Climb kicked off in Carbon County

“It’s a staple of the community it has been here as long as the community existed and it is a great cause really to raise money for something like this brings everyone together and we are happy to participate,” stated James Albert a race participant.

The race raised 35,000 for the Forty Fort Cemetery Association.

Funds will be put toward upkeep and restoration of the cemetery and historic meeting house.
