SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The 8th annual welcoming Scranton Celebration was held on Saturday.

It was hosted by the united neighborhood centers of NEPA along with their south-side farmers market.

This organization focuses on community revitalization, education and engagement.

They offer english as a second language courses, citizenship courses, and help local residents in need get housing, clothing and food.

Hundreds gather for the Multi-Cultural Parade

“The community absolutely loves it all of our partner organizations, there are about ten partner organizations here. We hold it in our 16 year old farmers market this way we can just realy amp up the community and the event,” said Holly Yorkonis the assistant director of community revitalization.

The event was part of welcoming week which is a national celebration that promotes cross-cultural understanding and raises awareness of the benefits of welcoming everyone.
