    Details on crash killing bicyclist near Market Street Bridge

    WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police have released details about a crash near Market Street Bridge Tuesday afternoon that killed a bicyclist.

    According to the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department, on Tuesday around 4:45 p.m. officers were called to a crash involving a White Hyundai and a bike rider at the intersection of Market Street and South River Street.

    Through further investigation, officers learned the bike rider, a 36-year-old man, was traveling west on Market Street, entered the intersection with South River Street, and was struck by the car traveling south on South River Street.

    The bicyclist was treated on the scene and transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

    The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact the investigating officer Ptlm. Ardoline 570-208-6727.

    very sad doesn't matter who was at fault. A young man lost his life. everyone needs to be more aware and follow the laws. it seems as though people think they have the right driving anyway they want.

    put bike paths in so wasting time with sidewalks for handicapped people that don't hardly use them put bike paths in for bikes
