WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — It’s time to get your sparkle on! It was a night of glitz in the Diamond City.

Dress for Success Wilkes-Barre held its annual Downtown Diamonds fundraiser at the Westmoreland Club.

28/22 News Anchor Nick Toma had the honor of emceeing the event, along with PA live! co-host Rachel Malak.

Dress for Success helps local women get a head start toward economic independence by providing them with professional clothing and job interview tips.

There were some big silent auctions up for bid, and new this year, a purse raffle worth nearly $1,900.

Joyce Iorio of Laughlin won the big prize of the night, a $5,000 diamond at the bottom of a champagne flute.

Everyone got a glass, but only one contained the real diamond.

“Wilkes-barre is the diamond city so we celebrate the real diamonds of the diamond city and those are the women we serve so it’s really significant and specific to our city,” Linda Loop.

Money raised will help fund the organization’s mission.

The Wilkes University men’s hockey team once again volunteered at the event.
