SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Officials in Scranton unveiled their new designs for gateway signs throughout the Electric City Monday afternoon.

The new branding is full of symbolism of our area’s past and future, depicting the valley while still connecting our ties to railways, technology, and music production.

The signage will be lit, representing the Electric City, in black and white, a nod to The Office logo.

Victim identified after falling off roof in Hanover Twp.

The city’s project is a partnership with Scranton Tomorrow, Reilly Associates, and designs made by DX Dempsey.

“We respect and we honor the past, but we are moving towards the future. Right? We are moving towards innovation, we have lots of young kids bringing all kinds of technology and life to the city and I think we need to look to the future,” said Michele Dempsey with DX Dempsey.

With the proper funding, officials hope to have the signage in four different locations by 2025.
