    Scranton School District says cyber attack cost them more than $100K

    SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A cyber attack in March cost the Scranton School District more than $100,000 in fees and ransom.

    School district officials told 28/22 News it cost them over $25,000 in ransom and associated fees, including an additional $100,000 payment to a forensic expert.

    Home declared total loss after Briar Creek Township fire

    The March 15 ransomware attack caused outages and disruptions to the school district’s systems.

    The district superintendent says to make sure it doesn’t happen again, the district put more safety precautions in place.
