BUSHKILL, PIKE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A park in Pike County has re-opened to the public with some upgrades.

The George W Childs Park in Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area is back open.

It features three waterfalls, a hiking trail, and several observation areas which were closed since 2018 because of winter storms destroying the site.

The trails have all been repaired and improvements to the accessible portion of the trail have been made.

“We have been working to make sure that we had the funding, that we had contractors out there, that we had staff out there, supplies, materials, to be able to do the construction work that needed to be done to make those repairs here, and also make sure that those repairs were done in a way that did no further harm to the environment,” said Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area Park Spokeswoman Kathleen Sandt.

The National Park Service asks everyone who visits to help take care of it.
