WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Luzerne County District Attorney Sam Sangueldolce states the man killed in a police-involved shooting did point a gun at officers during the incident.

DA Sam Sangueldolce tells 28/22 News that on Sunday, October 6, while responding to a domestic disturbance, officers found the man involved, Omar Jermaine Redditt, at a home on Holland Street.

Sangueldolce stated that police approached Redditt with the intent to get his side of the story. At some point during the encounter, Redditt pulled a gun and pointed at police, Sangueldolce reported.

A gunfight ensued and Redditt was shot and killed by police, Sangueldolce confirmed with 28/22 News. Sangueldolce continued, stating Redditt had a “ghost gun”, an untraceable gun, and it is currently being examined by PSP Forensics to confirm.

Sangueldolce noted that Wilkes-Barre officers had body cameras on and the incident was captured and reviewed by state police.

Redditt’s cause of death was determined to be from multiple gunshot wounds and the manner of his death remains under investigation, authorities said.

The Wilkes-Barre City Police Department has placed officers on administrative leave pending the investigation.

Great job by the officers. Hopefully they put enough holes in him to send a clear message. I love when a story like this has a happy ending. Beautiful. God bless you officers. Stay safe and eliminate the threat quickly.
