WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A police chase in Wilkes-Barre ended with the arrest of a man wanted on a warrant, police stated.

According to the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department, on Tuesday, October 8 around 3:20 p.m., officers were trying to pull over a driver on Sullivan and South Franklin Street.

The driver, later identified as Paul Chavis, 55, of Wilkes-Barre, did not stop for officers when they activated their lights and sirens starting a chase, police said.

The chase continued until Chavis stopped the car on South River Street and exited, running from officers on foot. Chavis was eventually captured and found with suspected narcotics on him, officers reported.

Investigators say they discovered that Chavis had an active arrest warrant issued by the Luzerne County Sheriff’s Office. He was arrested and taken to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility.
