PD: Man fires gun during argument over washing dishes

CARBONDALE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man is facing charges after police say he fired a gun at another man during an argument over washing dishes.

According to the Carbondale Police Department, on Wednesday, October 9 around 7:30 p.m., officers were called to Laurel Street and Rock Street for a fight with a gunshot heard and a suspect fleeing the scene.

Police say they found the suspect, Frank Kleinbauer, 47, of Carbondale, and he informed officers that his wife shot a gun, that had only blanks, at a man inside a house on Rock Street.

Once officers arrived at the home, the victim stated he got into a fight with Kleinbauer after Kleinbauer’s mother yelled at the victim for refusing to do the dishes, as stated in the affidavit.

Investigators said the victim claimed Kleinbauer punched him in the face, went upstairs, and came down pointing a gun at him then fired it.

The victim ran outside to his sister’s house, Kleinbauer allegedly followed him, then went back inside the house, came back outside, and apologized.

Through further investigation, detectives determined the gun fired did not have blanks and Kleinbauer was the one to fire the shot, according to court records.

Kleinbauer has been charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person.
