    Celebrating National Walk to a Park Day in Scranton

    SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — It’s National Walk to a Park Day and in Scranton, that’s just what people did.

    Valley in Motion partnered up with Trust for Public Land and the City of Scranton to hold a fun community walk.

    Several events were held over the past week to celebrate the day.

    Earlier Thursday, Scranton’s Mayor read a National Walk to a Park Day Proclamation and gave a tour showing off ongoing improvements currently taking place at Nay Aug Park.

    “Lots of investment going on in our parks we are working with trust for public land and valley in motion,” said Scranton Mayor Paige Cognetti.

    National Walk to a Park Day was founded by Trust for Public Land.

    The day officially falls on October 10 which is the anniversary of the launch of the 10-minute walk campaign.
