Man turns himself in after alleged rape

HAZLETON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police say a man has been charged with rape by forcible compulsion, and indecent assault of a person less than 16 years old after turning himself in.

According to Hazleton Police, Arvin De Jesus Mercedes, 20, turned himself in on October 1. Police say the charges come from an investigation involving the rape of a juvenile female.

De Jesus Mercedes has been charged with rape by forcible compulsion, incident assault of a person less than 16 years old, and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse by forcible compulsion.
